The Helotes Dispatch Center is hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course! The course teaches citizens the basics of disaster preparedness. Students learn fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and medical operation skills. Upon completion, graduates receive FEMA and CERT certificates.
The course takes place Friday, January 25 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, January 26 to Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. On Sunday, January 27, course participants will put their new skills to work during a live simulation.
Registration for the January 2019 CERT course is now open! Registration is mandatory. Walk-ins will not be accepted. The course can accommodate 32 students on a first come, first served basis. We welcome participants starting at age 16 with parental consent for those under 18. Accepted students will receive an email to confirm their participation. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, January 20, 2019.

1. Download and review the City of Helotes Media Release, Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement. Save a signed copy of this document to your computer. You will need to upload this document within your Helotes CERT application. Access the agreement by clicking here.
