HAC Band Performs Concert at State Capitol

March 27, 2019.

On March 8, 2019, we took our Helotes Area Community Band to Austin where they performed a concert in the State Capitol Rotunda.  We left Helotes on a charter bus with more than 40 members of the band at 8 a.m. and arrived at the Capitol with plenty of time for the band members to enjoy touring the building and refreshing their Texas history before setting up for the concert at noon.

Visitors in and around the Capitol Rotunda, and on the balconies above, certainly knew that Helotes was in the house!  Cameras were everywhere as people from all over the State and nation enjoyed a program starting with “The Eyes of Texas” and ending with “The Aggie War Hymn” and our State song, “Texas Our Texas,” with lots of music in between.  This was the second trip to the Capitol for our Band.  The first trip took place on March 6, 2015.
