We are delighted to announce that Helotes Municipal Court is a recipient of the 2017 Municipal Traffic Safety Initiatives Award. The awards honor outstanding outreach activities that promote increased traffic safety and prevent impaired driving. “The City of Helotes is extremely proud of the education activities and hard work implemented by the Court everyday to help make Helotes a safer community,” shared City Administrator, Rick Schroeder.
Helotes Municipal Court participated in Municipal Court Week during November 2016 where they distributed information to the public regarding distracted driving. One of the week’s most popular attractions was a wrecked car parked outside of City Hall showing firsthand the devastation that can result from texting and other distracted driving activities. The Court’s staff welcomes the opportunity to provide education to the community. If even one life can be positively impacted by their message, then the efforts are considered to be a success.
The Municipal Traffic Safety Initiatives Awards are presented through a partnership with the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center and the Municipal Traffic Safety Initiatives Project. The awards recognize municipal courts who demonstrate excellence in preventing and improving traffic safety in their communities. To learn more, visit www.tmcec.com/mtsi/mtsi-awards.
