Short-term rentals are residential properties available for rent for a period of 1 to 29 days. They are often facilitated by websites, such as AirBnB.com or VRBO.com.
Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT)
Pursuant to the City of Helotes Code of Ordinances Section 82-4(b), the City imposes a Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) on such properties, as authorized by the Texas Tax Code. Property owners may access the HOT Report form by clicking here.
The City has partnered with Host Compliance to analyze homes or rooms offered for short-term rental on the Internet to verify that properties are current with their taxes. Host Compliance’s data-mining technology enables the City to identify properties that are being listed for rent.
