Please complete the following Fence Permit Application Form for all building projects within the City of Helotes.
This application is a City of Helotes application and should only submitted if it pertains to the City of Helotes jurisdiction. Applicants are responsible for verifying if an address is located within the City. This can be done by using the BCAD property search engine located at http://www.bcad.org/. The applicant should also ensure that all information provided on the application is correct.
Questions should be directed to the Development Services Dept. at (210) 695-8877. Applications may also be filled out in person at the Development Services Dept. located at City Hall, 12951 Bandera Road, Helotes, Texas 78023. Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., except on Wednesday's when the Dept. is closed to the public.
Applications can take up to 10 business days to process.
Please attach the following:
Scaled site plan of the lot showing all buildings, lot lines, easements, the location of proposed streets, and where the fence will be installed. If a fence is not being installed on the lot line, please show the distance between the fence and the lot line.
Chapter 18, Section 12,
Section 312.2 - Access Control Gate Systems.
An electronic or manual access control gate and / or system, with or without connecting fencing and used for vehicular ingress/ egress purposes, across the front, side or rear property line of a parcel of land and abutting a public right-of-way shall be constructed a minimum of twenty feet (20') from the property line.
Sec. 98, Section 7. - Visual barriers obstructing sight line at intersections.
No visual barrier, including, but not limited to, fences, hedges, shrubs, weeds, or trees, which obstructs sight lines at elevations between three feet and eight feet above the roadway shall be placed or permitted to remain on any corner lot within the triangular area formed by the street property lines and a line connecting them at points 25 feet from the intersection of the street lines, or in the case of a rounded corner, 25 feet from the intersection of the street lines extended. The same sight line limitations shall apply at the intersection of a street property line and edge of driveway or alley pavement except distance from the intersection shall be ten feet.
