May 1, 2021 General Election
The candidate positions up for election are the Mayor, Council Member Place 3, and Council Member Place 5. Helotes is not divided into districts. Each Council Member represents the City as a whole.
The May 2021 Candidate Packet is available on this page, under the Election Documents section. Candidates can request a printed packet in advance by emailing the City Secretary.
2021 Election Schedule
- December 14, 2020 – Last day to post notice of candidate filing deadline
- January 13, 2021 – First day to file for a place on the General Election ballot
- February 12, 2021 – Last day to file for a place on the General Election ballot and last day to order Election
- April 1, 2021 – Last day to register to vote
- April 16, 2021 – Last day to receive an application in person for a ballot to be voted by mail
- April 19 – 23, 2021 – Early Voting
- April 20, 2021 – Last day to accept application by mail for a ballot to be voted by mail
- April 24, 2021 – Early Voting
- April 26 – 27, 2021 – Early voting
- May 1, 2021 – Election Day

Electioneering at Helotes City Hall
It is the responsibility of each candidate or group wishing to electioneer at City Hall to request an electioneering space prior to the start of the early voting period. Spaces shall be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the voting period is underway, and there are still spaces available, the candidate/group will be provided an electioneering space request form.
